Why Price Action?

I started with 10U and turned it into 4000U in one session. Then I blew it all. That crash taught me more than any winning streak ever could. I rebuilt from zero — no indicators, no news feeds, no magic systems. Just pure price action and the discipline to follow my own rules. This site is my honest record of what actually works. Every broker review is based on real money I scalped. Every guide is a method I use at my desk. No theory, no fluff — just six years of price action trading, stripped down to what survives.

Best MT4 brokers for gold trading right now (tested live): 1. EBC Financial Group Spread: 0.12-0.18 pips | Exec: 28ms | London server | FCA/ASIC Best for: tight spreads across all sessions 2. IC Markets Spread: 0.15-0.25 pips | Exec: 35ms | NY4 server | ASIC/CySEC Best for: raw spread + low commission 3. Pepperstone Spread: 0.18-0.30 pips | Exec: 40ms | London server | FCA/ASIC Best for: platform stability and support Test each on demo during YOUR trading session. The "best broker" depends on when you trade. Gold is a different beast from forex. Don't judge a broker's gold service by their forex spreads. I've seen brokers with 0.0 pip EURUSD spreads but 0.8 pip XAUUSD spreads.

MT4 vs MT5 for gold trading — my honest take after 10 years: MT4 wins on: • EA ecosystem — 90% of gold EAs are MT4-only • Community support — more forums, more tutorials • Lower resource usage — runs on anything • Familiarity — you already know where everything is MT5 wins on: • Speed — 64-bit engine, faster backtesting • Depth of Market — see gold order flow • More timeframes — 21 vs 9 • Better order management — partial fills, stop limit orders My verdict: If you trade manually and use custom indicators, stay on MT4. If you're algorithmic or need DOM for gold futures, move to MT5. Both work fine for retail XAUUSD trading. The best platform is the one you're consistent on.

MT5 features that gold traders underutilize: 1. Market Depth See the order book for gold CFDs. Large buy/sell walls at key levels tell you where institutions are positioned. 2. 21 Timeframes MT4 has 9. MT5 has 21 — including 2-hour, 3-hour, and 4-hour which are actually the most useful for XAUUSD day trading. 3. Built-in Economic Calendar No need for a third-party plugin. See NFP, FOMC, and gold-related events directly in the platform. 4. Advanced Order Types Buy Stop Limit, Sell Stop Limit — useful for breakout trading on gold during high-impact news. 5. Multi-Asset in One Account Trade XAUUSD, gold futures, gold ETFs, and mining stocks all from the same MT5 account with a multi-asset broker. If your broker offers MT5 and you trade more than just XAUUSD spot, it's worth the switch.

Switched to MT5 for XAUUSD trading 3 months ago. Here's what changed: Speed: Order execution is noticeably faster. Market execution with partial fills means I don't get slipped as much during news events. Depth of Market: Being able to see the order book for gold futures gives context that's invisible on MT4. When I see a wall at 1950, I know where the resistance really is. Timeframes: MT5 has more built-in timeframes which helps for multi-timeframe analysis without needing extra templates. Hedging: True hedging is native to MT5. On MT4 you need to enable it and it's clunky. The learning curve is real, especially if you've been on MT4 for years. But for active gold traders, the upgrade is worth it if your broker supports it. Anyone else made the switch? Thoughts?

Choosing a broker for MT4 gold trading — what to check before depositing: 1. Spread stability during YOUR session A broker might advertise 0.12 pips but widen to 0.50 during your specific trading hours. Demo test for 3 days. 2. Execution speed on MT4 EBC: ~28ms, IC Markets: ~35ms, Pepperstone: ~40ms. For gold scalpers, every ms counts. 3. Server location London server > New York server for gold (XAUUSD is primarily a London market) Check if the broker offers London-based MT4 servers. 4. Maximum leverage on XAUUSD Not all brokers offer 1:500 on gold. Some cap it at 1:200 for US clients. 5. No dealing desk (NDD) execution NDD brokers don't trade against you. Gold is notorious for stop-hunting on dealing desk brokers. Broker matters more for gold than for forex because of gold's volatility. A bad broker can make a good strategy unprofitable.

MT4 indicators that actually work for XAUUSD — from a 10-year trader: Bollinger Bands (20, 2): Best for identifying gold squeeze setups during Asian session. When bands tighten below 15 pips on the 15m chart, a breakout is coming. RSI (14): Works differently on gold. In strong trends, RSI stays overbought/oversold for hours. Don't fade it — use it to time entries WITH the trend. ATR (14): The only volatility gauge you need for gold. ATR below 20 on H1 = range day. Above 40 = momentum. Volume indicator (tick volume): Gold is a volume-driven market. Divergence between price and tick volume = reversal signal. What's in your MT4 gold toolkit?

Been thinking about why MT4 is still the go-to platform for gold traders after all these years. It's not the prettiest. It's not the fastest. But for XAUUSD specifically, MT4 has two things that matter: 1. The charting is lightweight — even on a 5-year-old laptop, 20 gold charts open without lag 2. Custom indicator ecosystem — thousands of gold-specific indicators tested over 15+ years Yes, MT5 is technically superior. But try finding a gold scalping EA that works on MT5 vs MT4. The ratio is about 1:10. For new gold traders: start on MT4. Get comfortable with the platform before chasing "better" tech. The tool matters less than the trader. What's your main platform for XAUUSD?
