The Three Costs of Every Gold Trade
XAUUSD moves differently during each session. Asian session is sleepy. London wakes it up. NY session is where the real moves happen. I only trade the NY open now. It simplified everything.

Gold follows real interest rates, not nominal ones. This took me two years to understand. When real rates go down, gold goes up. Simple rule that explains 80% of gold moves.
Commissions: ECN vs Standard Accounts
Do not pick a broker based on a bonus or a flashy website. I made that mistake. The broker you choose determines your spread costs, your execution speed, and ultimately whether you can be profitable on small timeframes.
Swap Rates: Cost of Holding Gold Overnight
Gold and the US dollar usually move in opposite directions. When the dollar weakens, gold rises. I watch DXY (dollar index) as a proxy before every trade. It is not a perfect indicator, but it helps.
